Online Personal Trainer App

Online Personal Trainer App

  • Why an online trainer app is the best way to go.
  • What are the advantages? What are the disadvantages.
  • Is there even a real person trying to help me with my goals?
  •  Would I be better off with a trainer?

At this point you may be saying this is crazy I’m just going to do the instagram celebs backflip, sumo deadlift, boxing thing I saw yesterday. While that may be an option (not a good one), there are better routes to take.

THE ADVANTAGES

1. YOU SAVE MONEY

The first big advantage (and possibly the most important to people) is the price. In-person training can be upwards of $150 dollars for a solid independent trainer (I ended my in-person training sessions at $200/hr). Go to a local gym and it will most likely be between 60 (midwest) and 90 (coastal areas) per session. To some, this may not sound too bad. To others, it’s enough to send them to our circus-kickboxing-fitness wizard on social media. Online training is generally for a month at a time and around $100-200 for a service.

I combined both everything into one simple price for just $199.99 a month. Workouts, nutrition plans, free mobile app, in app accountability and communication, video demonstration, and helpful tips + reminders to keep you on track. It’s the culmination of my nearly decade of experience personal training across the country and now around the world. You can try 2 weeks for free to see if it’s for you.

2. YOU ACTUALLY GET MORE HELP ONLINE

ONLINE PERSONAL TRAINER APP

You may be asking yourself, “how can I get less help when I literally see someone face-to-face”? Most in person trainers either don’t communicate outside of sessions (some gyms won’t allow it because they fear they will take the clients). If they do, it is generally short because they are on a time crunch. From a personal experience, I had 30 clients for several months, and 5 clients in the infancy of my online training. I was swamped. It was several months of up at four, down 3 coffees and rush out the door to catch my train. I would bounce around from gym to apartment, to training studio, until 11 at night. By the time I got back home and had a shake, a-hem I mean dinner, I would pass out at midnight and go again for a repeated six days.

I had some fortune of being on a train for about 2-3 hours a day. During this time, I answered the majority of my emails and texts. Having said that, someone could have texted me after I got off at 5:35 and I couldn’t reply until 11 that night (often sent an email in place they would get the next morning. Simple put the in person trainer may not be able to communicate or is limited.

Online training allows for nearly instant replies to any questions or concerns. I get a notification on my phone each time someone messages me, completes, or missed yesterday’s workout. I’m on you, your workouts, your progress, everything… like bbq sauce at a cookout. I’m able to resend fast, concise, and in depth if needed. Sometimes I will even send a video explaining or showing something. Most of the time I send one just to let you know I care and will go that extra mile for you.

3. ABLE TO ADJUST WITH WITH LIFE’S HURDLES

THE DISADVANTAGES..?

1. There’s no one in person to meet, you’re on your own to do the work.

online personal trainer app

Like anything else, there is a yang to something’s yin. One of the first things that can be a challenge is simply showing up or in this case, going on your own. There is not going to be a 6’1 200 pound almost too excited to see you (I swear it is the coffee!) Personal trainer waiting to greet you at the door and ask you how your day was and how life is treating you (ah the good ole’ days). You will have to muster up the will to get your butt in the gym and follow the workouts. I do put in reminders, motivational: text from myself, quotes, photos, videos, and more to help someone get to the gym and complete the workout. I will also see and question when a workout is not completed. From there, my hands are tied.

2. There’s no INSTANT feedback.

Another possible disadvantage is you are not getting INSTANT feedback. There’s no trainer to tell you what is right, wrong, off, on, fast, slow, etc… I believe I have a photograph memory and have tested as an extremely high level visual and kinesthetic learner. Couple this with my passion and knowledge for how our bodies are made up and move, I could see and “experience” or had actually experienced what someone’s body mechanics were during an exercise. I could see the smallest details such as a rotation on a squat that meant more force was being applied to one side than the other, or if someone was stepping slightly wider on a lunge with one foot than the other. These are top notch cues, that lead my clients to not only performing the exercise safely, but also maximizing their results in the process. I can’t see how you are performing an exercise. If you are not 100% sure about something you are doing, you can send a video of yourself performing the exercise. From there, I can give you a cue.

Is there really someone on the other end?

I hate to say it, but I have seen pre made programs and that is it. You get an image of a workout or a pdf with the exercises, sets, reps, and rest time if you’re lucky, AND THAT’S IT! With The Wall Street Trainer Online Personal Trainer App I AM THERE. I will take the time to read your questionnaire and possibly reach out more if needed to make sure we are full throttle from the get go. From there, I am available during normal wakeful hours and am constantly monitoring your fitness journey, and making updates when needed to help you progress every step of the way. Plus, there are custom made demonstration videos available to click for each exercise.

online personal trainer

In summary, an online personal trainer app is the best of both world’s. As long as the service provider is an accredited personal trainer (I do have a degree in exercise science from Southeast Missouri State University and am a Certified Personal Trainer with The American College of Sports Medicine) and has evidence of legit success (25+ 5 star reviews too), then you are good. Some other certifications that are good are: ACE, NSCS, and NSAM. Avoid certifications like ISSA that can be taken online, with open book, and repeated anti a passing score is achieved. You wouldn’t go to a doctor who got his whole degree online and took the final test repeatedly with the source materials right? The other this to watch out for is a really high price (like 300 plus dollars) and/or no tester, like a 14 day free trial 😉

Lastly, there should be some form of communication at least once a week, if not daily, or even hourly. The trainer is there to train you, not get you an instruction manual, pat on the back, and “good luck”. They are there to help you if needed at every twist and turn until competition. Competition is you looking AND feeling your best AND KNOWING how to maintain those results over the long haul. This ideally is a jumpstart to continuing a full, indecent, and high quality life.
